According to above, University from America and British still have the excellent performance. Top 3 Universities are still MIT, Stanford and Harvard. It is worthwhile to note that Australia National University is back to top 20 in the world university ranking.

Overall 5 of the Australian Group of Eight Universities are ranked Top 50.

Australian National University remains the Australian top spot and is ranked 20 worldwide.

University of Melbourne stayed in rank 42 in 2016 and 2017. In 2018, it climbs to 41.

University of New South Wales is third place in Australia University rankings and rises 4 places compared to last year.

University of Queensland backs to top 50 this year which is number 4 in Australia University rankings.

The ranking of University of Sydney drops slightly in recent years but still stay in top 50 in World University rankings.

Monash University becomes top 5 of Australia Group of Eight Universities and is ranked 60 worldwide.

3. Remarkable friendship honoured with Ma-Morley Scholarship Program

The University of Newcastle (UON) is honoured to announce the establishment of a groundbreaking scholarship program, made possible by the very generous philanthropic support of Alibaba founder and executive chairman, Mr Jack Ma, through the Jack Ma Foundation.

The Jack Ma Foundation will give US$20 million (AU$26.4 million) to fund a first-of-its-kind scholarship program at UON. Marking the largest philanthropic commitment in UON's history, the new scholarship program pays tribute to Mr Ma's close personal connection to Newcastle.

The Ma & Morley Scholarship Program will have a transformational impact on the lives of students and shape the next generation of leaders. Unique to the Australian higher education sector, the Program will help establish an enduring community of scholars and provide them with a comprehensive engagement and enrichment program while at university and develop key networks and friendships, as well as experience important practical training to equip them for leadership in the global environment.

4. UNSW Business School increased English language requirements for Postgraduate Coursework and HDR Programs.

UNSW has announced that UNSW Business School is updating the English language requirements for entry into all of its Postgraduate Coursework and HDR Programs.

The changes come into effect immediately for those wishing to commence their studies in Semester 1 2018 or at a later date. Any new applicant who is applying to sit one of the tests below will be required to meet the updated English language requirements.

Please note, applicants into 2017 and 2018 Programs who have already met our requirements as part of their application prior to this communication will have their applications honoured on the basis of the previous English language requirements.

UNSW Business School Postgraduate Coursework and Research degrees will require all applicants, domestic or international, to provide evidence that their English language ability meets the minimum requirements for admission as follows:

5. Latest Top 50 Millionaire-producing Universities in The World

The newly released data shows that nine of the top ten millionaire-producing universities are in the United States, while all eight Ivy league institutions are in top 25.

Harvard, whose alumni include Barack Obama and John F Kennedy, ranked first, followed by the University of Pennsylvania. Stanford University, University of Oxford (UK), and the University of California all follow respectively to complete the top five universities producing millionaire alumni.

Australia followed behind with four universities, two in Melbourne (University of Melbourne and Monash University) and two in Sydney (University of Sydney and University of New South Wales) also making the top 50!

6. Important Information Regarding USYD Fee Payment 

From 14 April 2016, a 0.8 percent surcharge will apply to fee payments made with Visa or MasterCard. This includes both online and over-the-phone payments.

It is important for potential students to notice the surcharge when making fees and payments. It is also important for students to note that there are alternative payment methods available that do not incur this surcharge, as set out below:

Domestic or international students paying fees in Australian dollars can use BPay to avoid the surcharge.

International students paying fees with foreign currency, can use Western Union's bank transfer method to avoid the surcharge.
